The working environment has changed today toward a more individualistic model. Each employee competing against others to get raises, or promotions. This trend has been encouraged by the management in so  it would increase each person productivity.

The problem being that as people become more individualist, they start to see their coworkers as competitor and doing so they stop helping each other as much as they should.  This resulted in an individual productivity gain, and a team productivity lost.

Team building purpose is to recreate the link between people and make them realize that you have a better chance succeeding by working together than working alone.
